Slovenia Open

The Slovenian Pitch & Putt Association hosted the Slovenia Open at Brdo on September 15/17.

FIPPA President Victor Moscatel (Catalonia) may have concentrated more on administration in recent years but he is a fine player in his own right. Victor returned a 55 (the best round of the weekend) on Sunday to win the inaugural Slovenia Open title on 171 for 54 holes. Victor finished five strokes ahead of Basque Country representative Ivan Otegui. Ivan closed with a 58 for his 176 aggregate. Jose Carretero (Catalonia) was third on 185. Bojan Mesec maintained his position as leading Slovenian. Catalan Montserrat Moreno was best lady.

Victor Moscatel from Catalonia fired a second round 59 to take the overnight lead on 116 (+8). Victor led by two at that stage from Ivan Otegui (Basque) who was on 118. The destination of the inaugural Slovenia Open title appeared to be between these two as third placed Narcis Sureda was on +17. Leading Slovenian was Bojan Mesec with +23.
