Course of the Month

January 2010

2Club Golf, Macedonia, Ohio, USA USA

2Club Golf is located on 44 acres in a city park in Macedonia, Ohio and offers 27-holes of regulation pitch and putt. Bill Amick designed the course, and Zinni Golf Construction finished and seeded the course in 2005-06.

The owners, Larry Saulino and John Hoover, pursued the venture based on ideas presented to them by Sean Lynch, a pitch and putt developer from Australia (and licensee of PPUI). Pitch and putt offers players the benefits of golf without the burdens of lessons, 14 clubs and excessive time. The owners also built a spacious clubhouse and expansive driving range to offer dining and practice amenities to all players.

2Club Golf offers 3 nines of varying challenge. The first nine (the White) is for beginners, and the holes range from 32 to 60 yards. We frequently host grandparents and grandchildren here because the pace of play can accommodate their learning activities.

The second course (the Green) is more challenging with longer holes and small hills. The greens are more contoured and require precise shots in order to reward the player with a 2. The holes range from 38 to 65 yards.

The third course (the Blue) is most challenging with two green-side ponds and longer holes. With holes ranging from 39 to 80 yards, and the 9th being a full carry over water, the Blue course offers a real challenge to the finest of players.

Course records are held by Jason Day, now on the PGA Tour, and Colin Swatton, his coach and caddy. Jason practiced at the facility prior to joining the Nationwide Tour in 2006. He met his wife-to-be, Ellie, during this time. In 2007 at nearby Stonewater Golf Club, he became the youngest winner of a PGA-sanctioned event. He was 19. Ellie was in attendance. They were married in Lucas, Ohio in October 2009.

2ClubGolf has hosted the Drive, Chip and Putt event sponsored by the Golf Channel. Over 300 children competed in the event in 2007.
