Course of the Month

September 2010

Nuolen, Switzerland Switzerland

In the early 90th, the Kibag Business Company had the idea to build a golf course on its grounds situated in a rural area not too far away from Zurich. The world renowned golfcourse architect Peter Harradine designed a resort that included a Pitch and Putt course as the first stage of the development. The 9 holes Pitch & Putt course was ready to be played in 1997.

In 2005, Pitch & Putt Nuolen joined SPPA and in 2006, SPPA organized its II° Swiss Championship and Interclub tournament at Nuolen. Other SPPA championships have been organized on the course.

The Pitch & Putt course is open to visitors, who don't have a handicap but it's necessary to have knowledge of golf rules and etiquette. The players are welcome every day but advance booking is essential. A valid membership card is required.

The entire Nuolen Golf Resort was completed in 1999 and offers to its members, along with the Pitch and Putt course, a 9 holes Golf course, Par 36, a Driving Range, a Putting Green and a Short game area.

The Golf Park Nuolen is considered as one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. The course is surrounded by a picturesque landscape, with wonderful views of the mountains of Glarus and unobstructed scenery of Zurich upper lake. The resort is not only very attractive but also conveniently located from major urban centres and easily reachable from the motorway above Lake Zurich or from the main road along the lake.

Due to the topography of the land, the Pitch and Putt course is an interesting and varied course, which demands of the player different technical skills to execute successful shots. For beginners, it is a fairly challenging course and although the course is slightly hilly, it is never too exhausting.
