Brigitte Albisetti honoured

2014 SPPA Short Game Open

St. Moritz

The Swiss Pitch & Putt Golf Association (SPPA) was founded in 2004 and its first Swiss Championship was organized in 2005 on beautiful and challenging Kulm GC St. Moritz. Now, 10 years later, the Association had the pleasure to organize the 10th Swiss P&P Short Game Open (over 27 holes) again in St. Moritz to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

The field of participants included winners of Swiss Championship, Club Champions and Swiss international players.

On the well prepared course the best players showed their abilities: Roberto Trivella (St. Moritz), Swiss Champion 2011, scored 53, two strokes ahead of Silvano Umberg (Engi). In third position, former 2013 and 2012 Swiss Championship winner Romano Gurini (St. Moritz) scored 58.

The result of the remaining round (9 holes) was rather interesting. Unfortunately Roberto Trivella had to note a triple bogey while Silvano Umberg played superbly and carded 25 (2 under) to be the Swiss Pitch and Putt Champion 2014, with an aggregate of 80. Roberto Trivella finished in 2nd place, with an 85 total while Romano Gurini, with 86, claimed the 3rd place. Our most experienced player Ueli Lamm scored 57 + 31 and that was good enough to become Senior Swiss Champion.

The results also counted towards the Interclub Championship, a 3 player team event. The Gold medal was won by the St. Moritz team, silver medal by Engi and bronze medal went to Seedorf.

The Swiss Championship 2014 organized in the beautiful surroundings of the Alps was a big success thanks to the motivated participants, the kindness of Ueli and Ruth Lamm who sponsored the snacks, fruits and beverages during the rounds, the apéro offered by Kulm GC during the prize giving ceremony and the icing on the cake (literally) of this wonderful day for the Swiss Pitch and Putt friends was the delicious ... "birthday cake" offered by SPPA President Brigitte Albisetti!

Fulsome tributes were paid to Brigitte Albisetti, not alone for her outstanding work as SPPA President but also for a massive contribution as a member of the EPPA Board, a position she stepped down from in March. Brigitte worked hard at development of the sport in Europe and cooperated in the production of the FIPPA rule book, a document Brigitte translated into German. Brigitte was presented with a bouquet of flowers at St. Moritz in deserved recognition of her generous contribution.
