V World Cup

Ireland are crowned World champions

A third successive World Cup win for Ireland who defeated Catalonia 3-2 in an exciting final at Xixerella in Andorra.  Ireland's captain on the course Eamon Gibney secured the vital point with a tense one hole win over Marc Lloret.  John Ross Crangle had earlier beaten Josep Martinez 7&6 while Enric Sanz produced Catalonia's second point with a 2 hole verdict over John Walsh.  John Walsh and John Ross Crangle join Marc Lloret and Ray Murphy as two time winners of Pitch and Putt's World Cup.  Galicia beat Great Britain 3.5 to 1.5 to claim 3rd place.  Norway finished fifth in the world, defeating host country Andorra 3-2.  France secured 7th place on their retuirn to World Cup action, 4-1 victors over Basque Country.  The marathon battle for 9th/10th saw Switzerland successful, 8.5 to 6.5 for Chile.

It was  level at 1-1 after morning play at the World Cup final at Xixerella in Andorra.  Marc Lloret and Enric Sanz recovered from an early deficit to defeat Eamon Gibney and John Ross Crangle 2&1 in the foursomes.  John Walsh levelled matters with a 5&4 singles victory over Josep Martinez.  Galicia held an early 2-0 advantage in the 3rd/4th place lay-off.  Norway and Andorra were tied 1-1 for 5th/6th.  France were in command 2-0 v. Basques in the 7th/8th play-off.  The Swiss still held sway for 9th v. Chile.

Ireland ensured top seeding for Matchplay at the World Cup in Andorra. John Ross Crangle fired 96 for Ireland, Eamon Gibney 98 and John Walsh 102. That gave the reigning champions a 26 under par tally for their best five 18s out of six.  Chile faced Switzerland in a play-off for 9th and 10th place.  Ireland's John Ross Crangle won the award for leading qualifying score.  Full details here.?

Ireland led after the first Strokeplay qualifying round at the V World Cup. John Ross Crangle scored 45 for Ireland, Eamon Gibney 46 and John Walsh 50. That left the Irish on 21 under par and 11 clear of Catalonia.First Round scores attached.

Following the draw at the World Cup Opening Ceremony, first Round Pairings are attached.  The pairings will remain the same for the second round at 11.00 a.m.

Basque team at the V World Cup will comprise Iban Alberdi, Gerardo Pagalday and Txema Baitia. Basque non-playing captain will be Kepa Ikutza.

The Norway team is Frank Kristiansen, Roger Wernerson and Helge Eggja.

Marcos Gómez, Nacho Prada and Peter Mervin have been selected to represent Galicia in Andorra.

Felix Eberle, Edi Planzer and Claudio Naiaretti will play for Switzerland at the 2016 World Cup.

The Chile team for the 2016 World Cup is Enrique Desmaras, Joaquín Cataldo and Pablo Caviedes.  Patricio Rubel will captain the side.

Andorra will be represented in the 2016 World Cup by Toni Armengol, Josep Escabrós and Gonzalo Mendoza.  Xavier Linde will be captain.

The Great Britain team in Andorra will comprise John Deeble, Steve Deeble and Jamie Deeble.

The CPPF has selected the following French team for the World Cup: Franck Ménard (Rennes), Thierry Gendreau (Fontenelles), Jean Rouch (Ariege).  The team will be captained by Damien Ducept.

Marc Lloret, Josep Martínez and Enric Sanz will form the Catalonia team for the 2016 World Cup.

World Cup hosts Associació Andorrana de Pitch&Putt have released the World Cup poster and logo along with detailed airport transfer information.

World champions Ireland's team for the V World Cup will be: John Walsh, John Ross Crangle and Eamon Gibney. Eamon Gibney will captain the team and joint team managers will be Michael Murphy and Mark Keohane.

The FIPPA Board has confirmed the format for the 2016 World Cup of Pitch and Putt, to be held in Andorra from July 1-3.

Hosts, ?Assocacio Andorrana Pitch and Putt, has released a preliminary dossier of information pertaining to the World Cup.

The standard format of teams of THREE players + a team coach or captain will apply. 

Consequently, member associations are invited to register their team of 3 players with the FIPPA Secretariat as early as possible.

The schedule of play will be similar to that of World Cup IV in Ireland (2012), a copy of which is attached.
