Report from Bryne & Kro
August 5th - 6th 2011 - Bryne Kro & Hotel hosted the Norwegian Pitch and Putt Championship
The event was held over two days, and included both individual and team championships - which were held for the first time.
18 teams from the Kristtornskogen, Bryne, Imjelt, Askim and Sotra clubs contested the team championship. After total 27 holes of single, fourball and foursomes, Tommy Madsen and Egil Berge, representing Bryne Kro & Hotel, were hailed as the first ever Norwegian Team Champions. Runners-up were BK Nerland and Tom Ellingsen, also representing the host course.
Saturday 6th was the day of the individual championship. After two rounds of 18 holes, 2009 champion BK Nerland could once again raise the trophy as a champion. He won a close tournament by a two strokes margin over Norwegian skipper Anders Chr. Juel. Helge Eggja came in third, three strokes behind the champion.
Juel and Nerland will represent NPPF in the upcoming invitational "Challenge of Champions", on the first weekend of September.
The intimate and beautiful 9 hole Pitch & Putt course of Bryne Kro & Hotel has all facilities needed for hosting big tournaments like these. The course itself is located in the hotel garden, where you have total overview of all 9 holes from the outdoor terrace. If you don't play the holes tactically, you can easily end up in high rough and deep trouble. Even though the 6th hole is one of the shortest holes of the course, it is definitely the most difficult one.
Ireland's Liam O'Donovan has been crowned European champion
