  The much-travelled Herma Kleinlugtenbeld

Since 2001, Herma Kleinlugtenbeld has certainly clocked up the kilometres while winning nine international opens across four countries. Quiberon, the scene of her latest conquest at the I Breizh Open, meant a long journey from her home in the Netherlands."We went by car. It was about an 11 hour drive,"laughs Herma, who retains phenomenal enthusiasm for Pitch and Putt. "It's a very nice sport and we now know a lot of players after all the years. That makes it very nice."

"It was a nice course and very friendly people," says Herma of the Quiberon course and the inaugural Brittany event. Herma scored 175 to win the 2019 Brittany Ladies Open to add to her string of successes - International Open at Sant Cebria (2001), Catalan Open (2004 and 2013), Galicia Open (2012), Andorra Open (2011 and 2014) and Dutch Open (2009 and 2010).

The artificial putting surfaces at Quiberon present an interesting conundrum? "The greens were very fast. You have to learn to play on the synthetic greens.  It's very difficult."

As usual, Herma was joined at Quiberon by her partner Gerard Spaargaren, who has been by her side for all of her international success. Herma and Gerard relished their trip to and stay in north-west France and believe think the prospects for Pitch and Putt in the region are good. "We enjoyed it very much - very nice people, very good organisation. Yes, I think the future is bright for Pitch and Putt in France."

Herma is unable to play at Dagenham in the European Strokeplay championships but another country and perhaps another international open win loom on the horizon. "No, not this time. Maybe in the future, but we are going to Slovenia in September..!!"

"Yes, very proud of Gerard." Herma sums up her delight at Gerard’s performance in the Open at Quiberon in which he fired improving rounds of 64, 60 and 59 to be the leading non-French male player.
