Bressuire, France
Bressuire Pitch and Putt club is located near Bressuire, a town of some 20,000 souls, situated approximately 100 kilometres south east of Nantes, France.
Out of bounds, lateral and frontal water obstacles, bunkers, water holes, hedge crossings and semi-blind holes are all characteristics of this excellent layout.
This course was designed collectively between Jean-Michel Bernier, Mayor of Bressuire and Claude Sageot-Chomel, Club President from 2011 to 2014. Construction was carried out by a team of volunteers, comprising members of the club, with the support of municipal services.
The Pitch and Putt holes have distances between 50 and 90m and the set-up adjoins a par 72 golf course. There's also a practice area with 6 covered bays and 25 outdoor bays.
Bressuire gets off to a pretty challenging start with hole 2 measuring 89 metres, followed by successive 90 metre tee shots at 3 and 4. Most difficult hole on the course, however, is considered to be the 81 metre 8th. Shortest hole on the layout is the 50 metre 16th, albeit the 18th, which stretches to 71 metres, is rated the most straighforward.
The courses have been maintained with ecological products since 2013 (organic fungicides based on minerals and trace elements). Mechanical operations promoting aeration of the greens are carried out regularly. Watering is also controlled by a restricted use of water (calling on rainwater, water reserves and by only watering the greens and tees). The machines used are hybrids, a way of getting as close as possible to the nature that surrounds us.
Course address is Golf du Bocage Bressuirais, Lieu-Dit le Grand Puchaud, 79300 Bressuire and one may telephone the club at 05 49 80 69 18.
