Eden, Ireland
Approximately 8,000 people live in the town of Edenderry, a settlement in east Co. Offaly, Ireland. Near the borders with Meath, Kildare and Westmeath, Edenderry's population has doubled in the last 25 years.
Overlooked by 15th century Blundell Castle and the town's modern water tower, Eden is a new Pitch and Putt course located just a kilometre from Edenderry town centre.
Established in 2013, Eden is laid out on 4.4 acres of parkland not far from the Grand Canal.
The 10th at Eden measures 69 metres and is Index 1. This test requires a long straight away pitch across the course to a target that looks small from the tee.
A left boundary hedge shadows the 60 metres index 2 3rd, where the pitch must be flighted between two trees that flank the fairway. The green falls away back left.
There's a sharp drop over back of the putting surface at the Index 17 7th, which stretches to just 29 metres.
Eden doesn't have an automatic sprinkler system but its large greens, some fronted by swales and valleys, are in excellent condition.
The green at the 27m 11th, on the far left corner of the course, falls away to the back left. The 24 metres Index 7 15th features a huge undulating green that is shared with the 16th. A tiny bunker divides the target area.
The Index 16 17th is played 25 metres downhill over two front hillocks. The 48 metre index 12 18th plays slightly downhill with a large bunker right.
