Majestic, Ireland
The administrative centre of north County Cork, Mallow is a town of some 12,000 inhabitants located approximately 35 kilometres from Cork city.
The Majestic pitch and putt is an 18 hole course, 800 metres long and situated in Gooldshill Mallow Co. Cork, next to the old Majestic Ballroom.
This is a club run by a dedicated group of volunteers and is open all year round to members and green fees.
The club was founded in 1971 by Jack O' Rourke R.I.P. Jack won the inaugural All Ireland Mixed Foursomes tournament (in 1971) alongside his wife Marie.
Downhill 34 metre 1st over grass bank to round green at bottom of course. Uphill 27 metre 6th adjoining the clubhouse. 9th palys 61 metres downhill with a toweri tree on the right with a bush to be carried near the green.
Majestic starts with the downhill 34 metre 1st over grass bank to a round green at the bottom of course. The uphill 27 metre 6th adjoins the clubhouse. No. 9 plays 61 metres downhill with a towering tree on the right and a bush to be carried near the green.
The 11th calls for a teeshot through trees to a small green ringed by grass banks. Longest hole on the course is the 70 metre 12th. Its green at the top of course is part hidden from the tee. There's a sharp fall off to the left of the target. No. 14 measures 37 metres. 15 plays 37 metres to a green mostly hidden from the tee box. The teeshot needs to be struck purely because there's a severe slope front right with a large bank to be cleared with the chip if pitching short. 16 demands a 33 metre pitch over a high grass bank. On the simila 1r length 17th, the green falls away to the left.
"Little Rascals" Funworld for kids is located just down the road as is the headquarters of Cork County Sound radio (103FM) , a station that has supplied plenty of Pitch and Putt coverage over the years.
