Begoña Conde & Alberto Alcaraz - Repeat Mixed success in the Pyrenees
There's something about the Andorra air that agrees with Begoña Conde & Alberto Alcaraz and the Catalan pair were elated to win the Mixed category at the 2022 Andorra International Pairs."Yes, very pleased. We also won it last year and winning it again has given us a lot of joy," said the Catalan coupe a few weeks after their repeat success.
Begoña and Alberto were the leading mixed pair all through the 2022 tournament. They were conscious of this but didn't feel under any particular pressure. "Yes we were aware, we would see the classification at the end of each round. Our play in the first and second round gave us a four-stroke advantage for the third round, which gave us some peace of mind."
Which form of play do they relish the most? "We enjoy all the rounds, especially the Greensome, it is a format that we one has to trust and understand one's partner and the truth is given to us quite well."
Begoña and Alberto play regularly as partners and scored 110 to win the 2021 rain-shortened Andorra Pairs. "Yes, we play a lot of tournaments together." And successfully too, as witnessed by their victories on the Catalan Fourball circuit at venues such as Teia.
And they are avowed supporters of international events. "We usually play some Opens and last year we also played Pairs and WPPT (where Alberto finished fifth)."
They find the experience (of international events) enjoyable. "It is very nice to meet people from other countries who share a passion for this sport."
The double Pairs' champions assessment of the Xixerella course? "We love this course!! La Xixerella is a beautiful course, in the mountains. The environment is spectacular. The tournament was very well organized and we are very grateful to the people of Andorra. They always make us feel at home."
What international event will they play in next? "Most likely the Andorra Open, which is usually held in September."

Esteu molt contents de guanyar la categoria Mixta a l'Andorra Pairs?
Sí, molt contents. La vam guanyar també l'any passat i tornar-la a guanyar ens ha donat molta alegria
Vau ser la parella mixta líder durant tot el torneig. Ereu conscients d'això i alguna vegada us vau sentir sota pressió?
Si en vam ser conscients, anàvem veient la classificació en finalitzar cada volta. Vam fer par la primera i par la segona volta, això ens va donar un avantatge de quatre cops per a la tercera ronda, que ens va donar certa tranquil·litat.
Quina volta de joc vau gaudir més?
Gaudim de totes les voltes, en especial del Greensome, és una modalitat que cal confiar en la parella i estar ben compenetrats i la veritat se'ns dóna força bé.
Jugueu regularment com a companys?
Sí, juguem força tornejos junts.
Jugueu en molts esdeveniments internacionals?
Solem jugar algun Open i l'any passat també vam jugar el Pairs i el WPPT.
Us va semblar agradable l'experiència (esdeveniments internacionals)?
Molt, és molt agradable conèixer gent d´altres països que comparteixin l´afició per aquest esport.
La vostra valoració del camp de Xixerella?
A nosaltres ens encanta aquest camp!! La Xixerella és un camp preciós, a la muntanya, l'entorn és espectacular. El torneig va estar molt ben organitzat i estem molt agraïts amb la gent d’Andorra, sempre ens fan sentir com a casa.
En quin esdeveniment internacional jugareu properament?
Molt probablement sigui l'Open d'Andorra, se sol celebrar al setembre.

¿Estais muy contentos de ganar la categoría Mixta en el Andorra Pairs?
Sí, muy contentos. La ganamos también el año pasado y volver a ganarla nos ha dado mucha alegría.
Fuisteis la pareja mixta líder durante todo el torneo. ¿Erais conscientes de esto y alguna vez os sentisteis bajo presión?
Si fuimos conscientes, íbamos viendo la clasificación al finalizar cada vuelta. Hicimos par la primera y par la segunda vuelta, eso nos dio una ventaja de cuatro golpes para la tercera ronda, que nos dio cierta tranquilidad.
¿Qué vuelta de juego disfrutasteis más?
Disfrutamos de todas las vueltas, en especial del Greensome, es una modalidad que hay que confiar en la pareja y estar bien compenetrados y la verdad se nos da bastante bien.
¿Jugáis regularmente como compañeros?
Sí, jugamos bastantes torneos juntos.
¿Jugáis en muchos eventos internacionales?
Solemos jugar algún Open y el año pasado jugamos también el Pairs y el WPPT.
¿Os pareció agradable la experiencia (eventos internacionales)?
Mucho, es muy agradable conocer gente de otros países que compartan la afición por este deporte.
¿Vuestra valoración del campo de Xixerella?
A nosotros nos encanta este campo!! La Xixerella es un campo precioso, en plena montaña, el entorno es espectacular. El torneo estuvo muy bien organizado y estamos muy agradecidos con la gente de Andorra, siempre nos hacen sentir como en casa.
¿En qué evento internacional jugareis próximamente?
Muy probablemente sea el Open de Andorra, suele celebrarse en septiembre.
