The 2016 Australian Open was played at Canberra International Pitch and Putt Course, Jerrabomberra Avenue, Narrabundah, A.C.T. on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November. Temperatures were in the 30s and the greens were lightning fast.

Tom Rickit, who also won in 2013 at Canberra International, emerged victorious ahead of overnight leader James Rogerson.  Tom added Sunday scores of 47 and 53 to his Saturday 102 (52+50) and finished a shot clear.  Previously winner in 2009, 2010 and 2012, Rogerson was runner-up for the fourth successive year. Ludy Kontowicz finished third on 207.  Helen Angel was ladies winner (her third victory in the event) ahead of June Drury and Marie Hutchison.

Former champion James Rogerson carded two steady rounds of 50 on Saturday to lead by two strokes after 36 holes.  Tom Rickit was on 102 alongside Jack Kalis of Wagga Wagga. With seven players within four shots of the lead, Sunday's final 36 holes were expected to see an exciting finish.  June Drury was the ladies leader on 112, just a single shot clear of of Helen Angel with Gloria Hourigan on 114.
