  International Open Pairs

Joel Girbau and Lluis Cucurull dominated the 2021 (October 23/24) Catalan International Pairs at Sant Cebria from start to finish. A fourball round of 47 on Sunday gave the Catalan couple a 54 hole aggregate of 24 under par 138 and a three stroke victory. Second were the father son Albinanas from Catalonia, Roger and Alex, who recovered from a slow start to post 42 on Sunday for 141 overall. Aongus Coughlan and Jimmy Taylor (Ireland) fashioned a fabulous final round of 42 to finish third on 142 (-20). The men from Co. Offaly took third on the tiebreaker from another two Catalan combinations, Andorra Pairs champions Josep Iglesias and Angel Navarro (4th) along with Sergi Arisa and Rafa Ramos. Catalans Joel Girbau and Lluis Cucurull held the overnight lead having scored an impressive eleven under par 43 in Greensomes and added 48 in the straight alternate shot format to post a 36 hole tally of seventeen under par 91. That gave Girbau and Cucurull a three stroke advantage heading into Sunday's final round over fellow Catalans Manual Amor and Carlos Villardell. Sergi Arisa and Rafa Ramos (Catalonia) were third on 97, tied with Irish duo Frank Dineen and Rob O'Donoghue. There were two pairs on 10 under par 98 - John Walsh and Eamon Gibney (Ireland) alongside Xavier Noguerol and  Marti Moreno (Catalonia). Sunday's final round was fourball.
