TRIANGULAR INTERNATIONAL AT BADALONA, October 2006
The Tri Nations Tournament organised last week-end by FCPP in Badalona on the outskirts of Barcelona was a resounding success. Switzerland, France and the hosts, Catalonia, came away with a real feeling of a job well done. Switzerland and France played some excellent Pitch and Putt and tied for second place, thereby avoiding the wooden spoon! Catalonia confirmed their victory in the World Team Championships earlier this year by producing some outstanding play, leaving the other two quite some way behind
The weather was perfect; the organisation went like clockwork; the course was beautifully prepared and lent itself well to this type of encounter; and the standard of play was as high as one would expect from a match at this level - when you score 5 below par and lose 3 and 2, you know that this is not just another monthly medal! Above all, despite the inevitable tension of representing one’s country, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
FIPPA gains in stature each time one of its members organises an international event of this quality and FCPP must be congratulated for the total success of this one. Special thanks to José Maria de Anzizu, Toni Lloret, Consuelo Martinez, Luis Fernandez and the host family from Castell Godmar, who all contributed unselfishly to ensure the success of this first “Triangular”. If Switzerland can do as well in 2008 and France in 2010, FIPPA will have inherited a model with a real future. Thanks again to all concerned.
