Castello-Empuriabrava, Catalonia

Host course to the 2004 Catalonia v. Italy international match, Castello-Empuriabrava is situated at Carrer la Closa dels Frares, s/n, 17486 Castelló d'Empúries, Catalonia. The course is located not far from the coast and lies some 50 kilometres north east of the city of Girona.

The 1st hole at Castello-Empuriabrava measures 76 metres and is rated Index 18. The teeshot is considered quite straightforward, with a direct route gently uphill. Some trees might come into play on the left. The relatively unprotected green slopes a little from right to left.

Index 1 hole arrives comparatively early - on the 3rd.This longest hole on the course has a pretty wide fairway with Out of Bounds on the right. The fairly flat 3rd green is slightly elevated.

Principal diffculty at the 77 metres Index 15 12th  are the two trees that flank the entrance to the green. The green is very wide and somewhat raised.

The Index 17 penultimate hole is very short (by Catalan standards) at 62 metres. The pitch must carry a lake, to find a green hidden behind the trees. The flat green shouldn't present too much difficulty for putting.

A hospitable Reception area, changing rooms with showers, an equipment store, golf school, parking and club rental are all positve features of this excellent course..
