April 2024
Compostela, Galicia
Newly constructed and opened in 2023, the Compostela course is located in the municipality of Santiago de Compostela, 5 minutes from the city centre, with easy and convenient access, at the exit of the N550 highway.
The Compostela club lies on a 70,000m2 plot of land and has a unique design. It is possible to view the 18 holes from the terrace of the Clubhouse. A wide variety of tee shots:is required through trees, over natural lakes, from different locations surrounded by nature. The course features wide fairways and greens with peculiar shapes, varied sizes and prominent drops.
Longest hole at Compostela is the 82 metre 7th. From a tee box high in the woods, the pitch must carry a small lake and be flighted through trees to a blind green protected by its pronounced front-left descending slope with falls from right to left in its middle part.
The very next hole, the 8th, is the shortest hole on the course. Shaded by trees, the teeing ground does provide a good view of the wide round green, which is protected by mounds and sand at the front and a sharp fall off the back.
The 66 metre 3rd is considered the most difficult on the layout. The downhill teeshot must find the green, perched on a peninsula and protected by a 'C' shaped lake. The small, round green slopes from left to right. Bailout area on this hole is to the right.
There are relatively few obstacles on Compostela's 5th hole, ranked as the easiest. It plays uphill to a green partly hidden from the tee. The long narrow green slopes from back to front.
Other facilities available are at the complex are a practice range with 10 bays, along with outdoor and indoor putting greens.
Address of course is Sionlla Abaixo, 1, 15884 Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña.
