Gleneagles, United Kingdom
It was the setting for this year's Ryder Cup but Gleneagles isn't just a golf resort or an elegant spa hotel - it's a complete experience that visitors will never forget. And just a short walk from the 18th green of the Ryder Cup course, it boasts a 9 hole Pitch and Putt course measuring 550 yards (500 metres). It's ideal for complete beginners or early risers, before breakfast and a day's golf. You might be playing the PGA National Centenary Course later in the day.Playing the Pitch and Putt course would present a chance to gauge the likely underfoot conditions. The longest hole on the Pitch and Putt course is only 81 yards (74 metres), so only a wedge and putter are needed and it only takes 30 minutes or so to play. Level par 27 should be achievable. This is a view of the 49 yard (45 metres) 9th hole, with the hotel in the background. Quite a place overall.
Alternatively, you don't even need your own clubs. Grab a wedge, a putter and a ball from the stand in the hotel lobby and walk over to the Pitch and Putt course just a few metres away. You might have the place to yourself or you might see a family playing a friendly round after dinner in the long summer evenings. The course is great fun for all ages and abilities. Additionally, an 11 acre championship practice ground, as well as several putting greens ensure you never have to go far to hit a few balls at Gleneagles.
With a huge range of golf breaks and distinctive golf gifts and golf vouchers, Gleneagles is golfing heaven in the heart of Scotland. Don't forget you have free access to the swimming pools, tennis courts, maze, Playroom and The Zone.......there really is something for everyone.
