Course of the Month

July 2023

Inniscarra, Ireland Ireland

The course is situated at Ballyanly, Inniscarra Cork, Ireland, P31EH64.

Inniscarra's beautiful Three Oaks Pitch and Putt Club is located in the grounds of Inniscarra Community Centre which also houses the local GAA, GAA camogie and Muskerry Rugby Clubs. There is also a Playground.

This sylvan rural setting sees trees dot this superbly maintained course.

Green fees for this pastoral layout represent great value at €5.

The greens were laid down in 1987 (on land swapped with the adjacent GAA club) and the club founded in 1988. This club grew quickly. By 1991 a clubhouse was built for the members by completely voluntary labour. The building cost approximately €7,500 and a race night, run as a fund raiser, brought in €8,500.

Inniscarra gets off to a relatively gentle start but although the second is short, at 28 metres, the small green falls away on all sides. One of the easiest holes is considered to be the 33 metre thrd with its diamond shaped green. Although it stretches to merely 54 metres, No. 5 is rated Inniscarra's toughest due to the small green. Protected by a large grass bank, the green at the 48 metre Index 7 6th slopes from back to front. The raised teeing ground at the 9th provides a good view of a green that has a pronounced camber from back left to front right. Tall trees guard the right side of the fairway.

The pitch at the 10th needs to be flighted over a high bush to a long narrow green. The Index 8 31 metre 15th is one of a few holes at Inniscarra that require a pitch over a hedge. The home hole is another such test. The 47 metre 18th also features a front grass bank and a sharp off to the left hand side of the green.
