Another top Norwegian course may be found at Golfveien 1, 3440 Røyken. The course is situated not far from Asker, a municipality of some 60,000 souls. The course is located about 40 kilometres south west of Oslo.
Kjekstad is a 9 hole course, which measures 573 metres. Strategically placed bunkers and large greens are highlights of this attractive layout, which features lake, forest and mountain views.
The 37 metre opener is considered the easiest hole on the course. It is also the shortest. Bunkers right and left should not come into play. Longest hole at Kjekstad is the Index One 3rd at 83 metres, which slopes sharply uphill. The 4th also measures 83 metres and the pitch must favour the right side as there is quite a fall to the left of the green.
Kjekstad's new short hole course (adjoining a golf course) was completed in the spring of 2004. The course was designed by Jan Sederholm, and is very idyllically located in a separate park / forest area in the immediate vicinity of other club facilities, such as a pro shop and café, alomg with a driving range and practice greens.
The Kjekstad complex offers a number of golf simulators, useful given the shortness of the playing season in Norway. Telephone the course at: 31 29 79 90.
