Mas Gurumbau, Catalonia
Host to the 2016 Catalan Strokeplay championship, Mas Gurumbau is a course that features very large greens. Take the C-17 from Barcelona towards Vic. Exit the C-17 towards Taradell/Moia. Take the turning towards Taradell and then you get to a roundabout with a sign indicating "service road" (first exit). Go straight for 700 metres and then take the first turn left to arrive at Mas Gurumbau.
Mas Gurumbau boasts eighteen wonderful holes of Pitch and Putt. Other facilities include a reception area, Pro-Shop, Car Rental, carts and clubs, putting green, lessons at arranged times and a spacious 200 metres driving range where one can practice all types of shots, along with a putting green and bunker area along with an approach shot facility.
Measuring 68 metres, the 2nd is suggested to be the easiest hole on the course. There is a lake to be carried from the tee but it shouldn't be in play for the competent player. This green is the flattest on the course.
The Index 3 9th hole has tight fairway, especially the first 25 metres from the tee, which are strangled by trees. It's all too easy to lose a ball right. A group of strategically placed trees protect the left side of a small relatively flat green. A bunker lurks to the right.
The Index 16 tenth hole boasts two teeing grounds, both located on a terrace at a level of about seven metres above the green, which lies 96 and 61 metres away respectively. The large green is dotted with five round bunkers of different sizes with a screen of trees in the background.
The 70 metres 14th is a narrow hole. Trees line both sides of the fairway of this Index 2 assignment. An interesting bunker on the left has an island of trees in the middle of the sand.
The 18th is a memorable Index 1 test. It's a long hole with a fairly wide fairway. Tall trees and a hazard could come into play on the right. Hitting the large green can be tricky with steep falls right and left. Certainly pin placements can make the hole really difficult.
