Platja d'Aro, Catalonia
In 2008, it was the location of a historic happening. Catalonia defeated Ireland here for the first time ever in international Pitch and Putt competition. Platja d'Aro boasts a Pitch and Putt school, an 18 hole putting green, approach shot practice area, rental clubs, equipment shop, bar and parking.
Hole 3 measures 72 metres. This visually stunning hole features a lake just behind the green. The hole needs to approached with a certain respect. The green is rather flat and quite large. The 42 metre fifth is a very short but very deceiving hole where the main difficulty lies in the precision of the pitch. There's Out of Bounds to the right of the fairway with a green sloping upward and slightly to the right.
A lake bisects the 9th and 18th fairways, presenting quite a challenge on both holes, particularly 18. The 60 metre 11th is another hole where precision of pitch is essential. A lake must be carried to reach the green, which is steep from right to left. Hole 15 is a 61 metre assignment where the tee shot must fly over some trees that protect the green. Better to be slightly left rather than right. The line of this hole intersects with hole 12, so beware!
