Quinta das Lagrimas, Portugal
This 9-hole 419 metre course features a beautiful setting in the historic University town of Coimbra. Coimbra, the country's former capital (1139-1260), is located in central Portugal, a two-hour drive from Lisbon.
Designed by António Carmona Santos, this primarily flat course was opened in 2001.
Toughest hole on the course is the 68 metre ninth, where water must be carried off the tee and avoided on the left. There's also a sand trap back right. The third measures just 24 metres and the tee shot must fly the front bunker on Quinta das Lagrimas' easiest test. The 67 metre pitch on the 6th must flirt with water in front and beyond the green. And water intimidates again on the tricky 31 metre 7th hole.
There is an adjacent driving range on the layout, which is located near the city's Mondego River.
Course (literally "Farm of Tears!") address is PO Box 5053 - Santa Clara, Rua António Augusto Gonçalves, 3041-901 Coimbra, Portugal.
Telephone the course on +351 239 802 388.
Other facilities nearby include two pools and a fine-dining restaurant along with various accommodation options.
