Rhoon hosted the Netherlands Strokeplay championship of 2012. Rolf Kwant (overall), Esther de Schiffart (ladies) and Joep Van Mourik (senior) were crowned champions. A record 8 holes in one were recorded during the championship!
Situated 70 minutes from Amsterdam and less than half an hour from Rotterdam, Rhoon is convenient for access and is laid out in a wonderful sylvan setting.
In common with most of the Dutch courses, Rhoon is very customer centric with offers to suit all tastes and interests.
In addition to the club's standard packages, Rhoon also offers Moonlight Pitch and Putt. This is Pitch and Putt at nighttime with glow-in-the-dark balls. The greens are illuminated with floodlights and LED lights are positioned at the tees. That's a most enjoyable and popular experience!
Adjacent to the course is the Abel Grand Cafe Restaurant, ideal for a pre or post-round meal or snack.
Rhoon is a relatively flat, tree lined course. The 16th is a tough assignment. It measures 70 metres and only the top of the flagstick is visible from the tee.
At the 18th the distinctive red roof of the clubhouse looms up on the right. The home hole is just 40 metres but that water hazard with the bewitching fountains must be carried. Hole 12 is 90 metres from the back tee. The 11th requires a pitch of some 63 metres over a few tall trees.
Simplest hole at Rhoon? Probably the 4th, which measures the shortest at 37 metres and is flat with no obstructions. Hole 1 measures 50 metres with trees guarding the left of the fairway.
