Course of the Month

July 2016

Strand Horst, Netherlands Netherlands

Open daily from 10.00 a.m. to sunset, Strand Horst Pitch and Putt is situated at Palmbosweg 4, 3853, LB Ermelo, near the Woldewijd bordering lake. Located some 45 kilometres from the city of Zwolle, Strand Horst presents a challenging course featuring island greens/tees, bunkers, bushes and lots of rough.  The 17th Pitch and Putt course to be constructed in the Nertherlands, Strand Horst measures a total of 912 metres.

Trees are the principal obstacles on the opening nine holes while the water is much more in play on the homeward nine, particularly on the 11th and 16th.   Hole 1 is a relatively gentle 51 metre uphill opener.  The second looks deceptively easy - just 36 metres and no bunkers, but care is needed. The pitch on the 51 metre third must be threaded through a narrow gap in the trees.  Hole 7 measures 67 metres and the tee shot must avoid tall trees on the left of the fairway and two bunkers left and right of the green. The 70 metre 11th features rushes and water all the way down the left of the hole. The 18th plays 62 metres slightly uphill to a green, guarded in front by a large bunker. The imposing clubhouse is situated just behind the green.

Meals (including the rather splendid Indonesian buffet!) are provided in the excellent adjoining restaurant.  Floodlight Pitch and Putt and Foot Golf are also available.  Pitch and Putt green fees are €16.00 per round.  Wine tasting and archery clinics may also be arranged.  Strand Horst is an ideal location for business day or a family day.
