Tambre Pitch and Putt, Galicia

The Tambre River, the third longest in Galicia, gives its name to this 18-hole Pitch & Putt course, as it runs alongside both to the South and West. The course is located in the town of Sigüeiro, near the city of Santiago de Compostela, a major attraction for tourists and pilgrims alike.

Tambre Pitch and Putt is 10 minutes from the International Airport of Santiago de Compostela, and the same distance from the centre of the Galician capital city. The "English Way", one of the most important stretches of the pilgrimage route to Santiago, passes close to the course.

The Galician championship of 2010 and the Galicia-Portugal International Challenge are two of the major tournaments hosted by this magnificent course.

The design and layout of Tambre Pitch and Putt is characterised by the variety of different holes, each a challenge for the player and each adding to the enjoyment of the round.

The most important factor on the opening nine will be technique and precision, as the distances are relatively short but the greens are well protected. Beyond the turn the holes become somewhat longer where the difficulty is more related to the distances.

Undoubtedly the course's signature hole is the 13th. It measures 50 metres and the player must land the ball on a green with a steep slope towards the river at the back.

At present the course record stands at 46 strokes (-8), a record that might not last beyond the World Strokeplay Championship to be held from 4 to 7 July. The record was established by Kike Rama. Kike aced the third, bogeyed the 11th and added seven birdies in consistent nines of 23.
