Tramore, Ireland
One of the world's longest-established courses is located in a rural setting at Westown, one mile outside Tramore Town, County Waterford in south-east Ireland. Tramore Pitch and Putt has a fantastic 180 degree sea view and a great vista of the well known landmark, the Metal Man.
This is a challenging 18-hole pitch and putt course, steeped in history. The Irish Tourist Association was recommending Tramore Pitch and Putt course as far back as the 1940s/1950s.
The 1st hole at Tramore (31 metres, Index 8) plays slightly downhill over a bunker. After a straightforward downward 43 metre shot at the 2nd, players are faced with a left handers' nightmare at the 3rd. Out of Bounds lurks over the boundary ditch to the left of and behind the green. The 4th measures 43 metres and the teeshot must be flighted over grass mounds and a tree. The tricky index 3 5th stretches to 61 metres over a high grass bank.
The index 14 14th calls for a 45 metre pitch over one tree and a front bunker. Following a descending pitch to the index 5 56 metres 17th, the round finishes at the 18th where the big high bank in front of the green foreshortens this index 6 50 metre test.
Visitors are welcome every day from 11.00am to 7.30pm except during competitions.
