Course of the Month

March 2017

Urduna, Basque Basque

The recently opened Urduna course is situated in the Basque Country, approximately 40 kilometres south of Bilbao. Overlooked by Monte Santiago, Urduna features 18 diverse holes, all different and with varying degrees of difficulty. An added bonus while you play is the awesome view of the mountains and the verdant surrounding countryside. Urduna course is adjacent to swimming pools and football pitches.

The clubhouse and the first six holes lie to the left of the access road with the remaining twelve holes on the other side. Unusually, Index One hole is the 53 metre 1st. The 42 metre 6th is considered the easiset hole at Urduna. A large bunker awaits at the back of the 52 metre 7th (Index 10). At 72 metres, the Index Three 10th is the second longest hole on the course. Water looms to the left of the the 13th but should not be in play on this 47 metre test. The 14th plays 61 metres over water. While the water is also visible on the 15th, principal hazard on this 76 metre Index 2 hole is likely to be the big crescent shaped bunker to the back and right of the target.

Course address is Barrio Arbieto S/N, Orduña. Phone the course on +34 945 38 38 53. Green fees are €10 for one round.  An additional round costs just €2 extra.

The Urduna course hosts the inaugural Iberia Teams Cup Open in 2017.
