Valley View, Adelaide, Australia
Adelaide's Valley View Pitch and Putt Golf Course is located in the lovely parkland of the Thomas Turner Reserve. Valley View is an eighteen hole course wrapped around a gently sloping hill and is considered ideal for players of all ages. Three thousand native gum trees frame Valley View's generously large greens and wide fairways. Another feature of this beautiful course is that it has only two bunkers. Younger and older players alike are welcome, especially on Sundays, which is family day. Players looking for more of a challenge participate in the club competitions that are played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Located on Grand Junction Road at Valley View, the course is open 7 days a week from 7.30am until 5.00pm. Just a short drive from the city centre, this course is very popular with locals and visitors alike. Plenty of parking is available right in front of the course so patrons have direct access.
The index says the downhill 10th hole is the hardest, but many find some of the uphill holes harder. The eleventh could be considered a very curious hole. The teeing ground lies below the level of the fairway and green and there's a sense of pitching out of a bowl. Slice the shot to the right and the ball may disappear over the edge and drop 10 foot to the ground below, not a great place from where to be planning one's next shot!
There are some man made hazards such as a large concrete drain with a ravine to the right. Valley View is very well maintained courtesy of skilled greenkeepers.
