Catalan International Pairs 2019
Three stroke victory for Oriol Mas and Eric Puig
Catalans Oriol Mas and Eric Puig carded a superb 41 in the Sunday fourball to clinch the 2019 Catalan Pairs event at Sant Cebria. Oriol Mas (who won this event four years ago with Marcal More) and Eric Puig posted an overall aggregate of 26 under par 136 and won by three from fellow Catalan partnership Jaume Vidal and Enric Sanz who were round in a fantastic 40 on Sunday. Third were World Strokeplay champion Liam O'Donovan and his Irish compatriot Conor Fahey on 144 - after a fine 42 in the fourball. That 42 took third spot on the tiebreaker from no fewer than five other pairs, which included overnight leaders Thomas Hanley & Kieran Earls (the 2016 champions from Ireland). An excellent closing round of 44 clinched Mixed laurels for the Catalan pair Josep Ramon and Soraya Lassal.
