Josep Iglesias and Angel Navarro are victorious at Xixerella

An electrical storm curtailed play in the VI Andorra International Pairs tournament (July 31st to August 1st, 2021), which was played at Xixerella. Catalans Josep Iglesias and Angel Navarro emerged victorious with an excellent 12 under par tally of 96. That gave the Catalans a single stroke to spare over Pau Perez and Ramon Armengol of Andorra. Perez and Armengol fired an impressive 45 in Sunday's fourball to post a 97 aggregate, only to be pipped by the ultra-consistent Catalans who scored a second succcesive 48 in their Sunday round. The Andorran pair were actually awarded the Best Handicap prize. Another Catalan pairing, Alex and Alexandre Albinana, finished third gross on 98 with their colleagues Xavi Ponsdemenech and Dani Gimenez next on 99 alongside Carles Perez and Jose Perez. Best Mixed pairing on 110 were Begona Conde and Alberto Alcaraz while Dolors Sanchez and Violeta Blazquez scored 118 to clinch the ladies award.

Saturday's foursomes were cancelled and the tournament was decided over 36 holes with fourballs being played on Sunday.  Catalans Josep Iglesias and Angel Navarro carded 48 to lead after Saturday's greensomes. Sergi Arisa and Rafael Ranos were next on 5 under par with the Albinanas, Alex and Alexandre, third on 50.
