Alex Albinyana shoots 141 to come out on top

Alex Albinyana scored a fine 48 at Lleida on Sunday 14 November to win the World Pitch and Putt Tour (WPPT) presentation event. Albinyana's 54 hole total of 21 under par 141 gave the young Catalan a single stroke success over three other Catalans Eloi Hernandez, Emilio Cuartero and Friday's leader Alejandro Esmatges.

Joel Moscatel, son of FIPPA President Victor, carded rounds of 47 and 45 at Lleida on Saturday for a 16 under par tally of 92. Moscatel led by one overnight from Catalan teenage sensation Alex Albinyana (44+49). Alejandro Esmatges (Catalonia) fired eighteens of 45 and 49 on Friday for a 14 under par total of 94. Esmatges was joined on that mark by fellow Catalans Oriol Mas and Alberto Alcaraz who both returned 94 on Saturday. On thirteen under par were Gonzalo Mendoza (Andorra) and John Ross Crangle (Ireland). Mendoza and Crangle each carded 48+47=95 on Friday. The final round for the qualifiers was on Sunday.  The cut fell at -6. 

The WPPT (in collaboration with FIPPA) , which aspires to bring the best 144 Pitch and Putters on the planet together in competitive action across the globe five times annually, held an initial presentation tournament at the Lleida course, situated 160 kilometres inland from Barcelona, on November 12/14. 132 players confirmed their intention to participate.
