The IV World Strokeplay championship was contested at the Club de Campo Vigo, Spain from 27/30 June 2024. Manuel Amor (Catalonia) survived a titanic battle for the World Strokeplay championship at Vigo. Europe's co-captain South America in 2013 fired rounds of 45, 50, 44 and 46 for a 31 under par aggregate of 185 and a two stroke win over his Irish fellow competitor. 2020 All-Ireland Matchplay champion Earls signed for rounds of 45, 44, 51 and 47 for 187. John-Ross Crangle (Ireland) claimed third position with 189, a shot ahead of fellow Irishmen, former Catalan Open winner Tom Hanley and John Walsh (the 2013 World champion).

Esther de Schiffart (Netherlands) is the new World Ladies champion. Esther carded a two under par tally of 214 and won by five strokes from her Dutch compatriot Kim Kuijsters. Ireland's Ailish Sexton took third spot on 222.

A brilliant start to his second round in  which  the 2020 Irish Matchplay champion birdied six of his first seven holes gave Kieran Earls (Ireland) the impetus to grab the lead midway through Saturday evening's play with a magnificent 44. After scoring 45 on Friday, joint Fernando Morgado Cup captain Manuel Amor (Catalonia) fired a brilliant 44 on Saturday evening. Those two superb rounds sandwiched a more mundane 50 second round. It all added up to 139 (-23) and saw Amor in the overnight lead and one ahead of Earls after the Co. Limerick native signed for 51 third time round.

After a bogey free first round, 18 hole leader Eamon Gibney scored three fours in the first five holes of his second round but recovered well with twos on five of his last six holes to post 48 and with a 51 third eighteen, the Irishman was poised in third, two strokes off the lead on -20. Former champions John Walsh and Liam O'Donovan were tied fourth on 19 under par alongside Irish colleague  John Ross Crangle.

Although she faltered somewhat with a second round of 56, Esther de Schiffart remained in control of the ladies championship. A third round of 52 left the Dutch player two under par overall on 160, seven clear of Kim Kuijsters (Netherlands) and eight ahead of Ireland's Ailish Sexton.

Ireland's Eamon Gibney fashioned a superb eleven birdie opening round of 43 at Vigo to take the early lead in the 2024 World Strokeplay championship. Gibney took a two stroke advantage into Saturday's play in this 72 hole tournament. Bracketed together in second place on 45 were Kieran Earls (Ireland) Manuel Amor (Catalonia) and Evan Ganly (Ireland). Irishmen Barry Morrissey (the top senior), Gareth Walsh and Frank Dineen were eight under par on 46 while Dutch ladies Esther de Schiffart (52) and Kim Kuijsters (53) headed the ladies leaderboard. .
