WPPT Ireland Master
Impressive win for John Walsh
2024 WPPT Ireland Master was played at McDonagh on 8th, 9th, 10th November. John Walsh produced a remarkable final round of 43 for a record tally of 30 under par of 132 and a five stroke win. David Sexton jumped up into second place (on the final eighteen) courtesy of a brilliant closing 42 for 137. Jason Cregan took third on the tiebreaker, shooting 48 on Sunday to 49 for Michael Fennell. Both also finished on 137. Chrissie Sheedy took ladies laurels with 154, three clear of Sunday playing partner Glenda Hoey. Ray Murphy was top senior with 141.
Michael Fennell took a one stroke lead into Sunday's final round. The Tipperary Inter-County star signed for two superb rounds of 44 and a brilliant 20 under par total of 88. Fennell was chased by two players on 89, John Walsh (who posted 43 and 46) and Jason Cregan (46+43). Chrissie Sheedy topped the ladies leaderboard on 103, two ahead of Glenda Hoey.
Sunday tee times
Eight players completed their opening 36 holes on Friday. 2023 Irish Strokeplay champion Stephen Shoer breezed round in 48 and 43 for a seventeen under par tally of 91, which set the standard for the bulk of the field who played on Saturday.
