World Pairs Championship 2026

Oriol Mas and Eric Puig triumph in play-off

The 2026 World Pairs Championship was contested from 19/21 June at the Franciac course near Girona. Final leaderboard here

A play-off between two crack Catalan teams resulted in a win for Oriol Mas and Eric Puig over Lluis Cucurull and Joel Girbau after a tie on 23 under par 139. Mas and Puig forced the play-off by shooting 45 in Sunday's Fourball against 46 for their rivals.

In a Catalan clean sweep, Manuel Amor and Carlos Vilardell claimed third place with David Sole and Carlos Poley 4th and Roger Muntayola and Jorge Olmos 5th.

New World Mixed Pairs champions are Catalans Soraya Lassal and Josep Ramon who finished 16 under par on 146 for a two stroke margin over Berenguer Orti and Elia Folch (Catalonia). Marta Cucurull and Pau Folguera (Catalonia) were next (another stroke back) along with Irish couple Ailish and Daithi Sexton.

Irish team Frank Dineen and John Walsh collected senior laurels.

Lluis Cucurull and Joel Girbau (Catalonia) took a one stroke lead into Sunday's final round of Fourballs. Cucurull and Girbau scored 45 in Greensomes and 48 in Foursomes for their 15 under par 93 total while Oriol Mas and Eric Puig (Catalonia) tallied 44+50 to be joint second with fellow Catalans Soraya Lassal and Josep Ramon.

Former two-time Catalan International Pairs winners Soraya Lassal and Josep Ramon led overall after Friday's play (36 of the 108 competing teams played their opening 36 holes on Friday). Lassal and Ramon fired a brilliant 44 in Greensomes and 50 in Foursomes and led by two from fellow Catalans David Sole and Carlos Poley (45+51).
