2009 First World Strokeplay Championship

First World Strokeplay Championship, 24 - 26 April 2009, La Grande Motte, France.

Important Players' Notes
The Organising Committee has announced some important information for participants in the World Strokeplay championship.

Important Practice Notice
The actual La Grande Motte (Les Goelands) course in its Championship format will only be available for practice on Thursday 23rd April and Friday 24th April before the championship.

List of Entrants Announcement
FIPPA has great pleasure in announcing the final field of players for the historic first World Strokeplay championship, to be played at La Grande Motte, France next April.

15 players qualified by their specific success in international opens. tournaments and championships in 2008.

46 players were nominated by their home association.
AFPP have made 5 wildcard nominations.
FIPPA has made a further 12 wildcard nominations

All of the wildcard nominations are proven supporters of and proven performers in international open events and will add considerable lustre to the event by their presence.

We have also added seven of the players from the reserve lists submitted by some associations and likewise we are confident that the championship will be enhanced by their presence.

The total number of players has been increased to 85 (now reduced to 83 by some enforced withdrawals) in order to ensure a field worthy of a global event of this nature. An encouraging thirteen different associations will be represented.

FIPPA really appreciates the cooperation of the home associations which has enabled us to deliver on the commitment to publish the final field by 31 January 2009.

The World Strokeplay championship will be a high quality event. We wish the players the best of luck with their preparations and look forward to a festival of all that is good in Pitch and Putt at La Grande Motte on 24-26 April.
