2024 Catalan International Pairs

Evan Carry and Gareth Walsh triumph

The 2024 International Open Pairs was played at Sant Cebria on 18th/20th October. Irishmen Evan Carry and Gareth Walsh triumphed on a 25 under par 54-hole aggregate of 137. Carry and Walsh signed for a Sunday Fourball round of 46 to earn to a two stroke winning margin over playing partners Amador Rodriguez and Josep Iglesias (Catalonia) who fired a fabulous 43 final round. Catalans Sergi Arisa and Enric Sanz took third place on -19 on a countback from Irish players Frank Dineen and Eoin Walsh while defending champions John Walsh & Denis O'Sullivan were fifth on 144. Josep Ramon & Soraya Lassal (Catalonia) won an exciting battle for Mixed laurels, closing with a scintillating 44 to deny David & Ailish Sexton (Ireland) by a single stroke.

2022 Irish Open champion Evan Carry and fellow Irishman Gareth Walsh took a five stroke lead into Sunday's final round of fourball. Carry and Walsh dovetailed superbly on Saturday for rounds of 43 (in Greensomes) and 48 (Foursomes) and 17 under par total of 91. In joint second place were holders John Walsh and Denis O'Sullivan (Ireland) and Catalans Amador Rodriguez and Josep Iglesias.

One third of the field played their opening 36 holes on Friday afternnon. Amador Rodriguez and Josep Iglesias scored 46 in Greensomes and 52 in Foursomes for a 10 under par tally of 98 and held a two stroke early advantage over fellow Catalans Xavi Ponsdemench and Dani Gimenez (45 and 53).
