Catalan Open

Fourth win in five years for Oriol Mas

The XVIII Catalan Open was contested from 25/27 April 2025 at the BonArea course.

2021, 2022 and 2023 winner Oriol Mas (Catalonia) won the Catalan Open for the fourth time with a superb performance at BonArea. Trailing fellow Catalan Lluis Cucurull by two setting out on Sunday's final round, Mas finished with a brillant 42 to post 135 (-27) to win by a single shot from Cucurull. Ireland's Kieran Earls fashioned a 43 of his own on Sunday to fill third place on 137. Ireland's Tom Hanley and Jim Judge tied for fourth on 141 with Hanley collecting ourth prize on the tiebreaker.

Kim Kuijsters (Netherlands) won the Catalan Ladies Open . Kim scored 52 in Sunday's final round for a 13 under par aggregate of 149 and a seven stroke victory over Ireland's Ailish Sexton who closed with a 51. Marta Cucurull (Catalonia) dipped under 50 with a 49 on Sunday for third spot.

2009 World Strokeplay champion Fernando Cano (Catalonia) dominated the senior event from start to finish. One stroke ahead overnight, Cano scored a final round 47 for an 18 under par tally of 144 and won by three from fellow Catalan Josep Ramon Portell. Toni Armengol (Andorra) ckaimed third on -12.

LLuis Cucurull (Catalonia) produced matching Saturday rounds of 45 for an eighteen under par overnight tally. He led the Catalan Open which was disrupted by stormy conditions during the second round at BonArea. The third wave were unable to complete their second round and returned to do so at 8.30am on Sunday.  After a fantastic opening round of 41, Ireland's Jim Judge added a 50 to be second on 91. Former winner Oriol Mas (Catalonia) was on 92. Catalan Fernando Cano, was best senior on 11 under after 36 holes. Kim Kuijsters continued to dominate the Ladies Open after her irresistible Friday score. The Dutch lady led by five from fellow Dutch player Esther de Schiffart.

Approximately a quarter of the huge field played their opening 36 holes on Friday. Marc Fortuny signed for rounds of 45 and 49 for a 14 under par tally of 94 and a one stroke lead on Friday evening. Kim Kuijsters (Netherlands) delivered an extraordinary performance to post 48+49 for 97 and a huge advantage in ladies.
