Oriol Mas (Catalonia) retained his title at the Catalan Open 2022, which was played from 23rd April to 24th April at Lloret de Mar. Mas was in brillant form all through, carding a 46 on Sunday for a 22 under par aggregate of 140, to win by ten strokes from runner-up William Buckley Junior (Ireland). William Buckley, who won the first-ever Catalan Open at Teia 18 years ago, scored 49 on Sunday to take second place by one shot from Roger Albinana (Catalonia). That 50 gave Espanol runner-up position on the countback from Jorge Rodriguez Sarmiento (Galicia).

Holder Oriol Mas (Catalonia) produced a phenomenal second round of 44 to grab a seven stroke 36-hole lead. Oriol was on 14 under par 94 after two rounds. Amador Rodriguez and Daniel Gimenez shared the lead after the opening round of 18 holes. The Catalan pair each shot five under par 49 and led by a single shot from a group of four players - Oriol Mas (Catalonia), Barry Coomber (Catalonia), Alex Albinyana (Catalonia) and Irishman William Buckley, who won the first-ever Catalan Open back in 2004.
Amador Rodriguez led the senior (Over 55) event at that stage from John Delaney (Ireland) who was on 52 with Antonio Penalva (Catalonia) on 53. Mª Angels Taulats (Catalonia) was the ladies first round leader with 56.
