Ireland are dual champions

The 2025 European Team Championships took place at Lucan.  Scoreboard

With a 100% record from their group matches, Ireland retained the Gents championship. Catalonia beat Great Britain for second place. On a countback of individiual margins, Netherlands were fourth, just ahead of France after their 4.5 each tie on Sunday. Switzerland were sixth.  After a 6-3 success, Galicia took 7th place ahead of Andorra with Norway ninth.

Ireland won the final 5-0 to be the inaugural ladies champions. Netherlands defeated France 3-2 for third spot. Galicia took fifth place with a 3.5 to 1.5 victory over Andorra.

With full points from their group games, Ireland and Catalonia reached Sunday's ladies final. France and Netherlands played off for 3rd and 4th while Andorra and Galicia disputed 5th and 6th.

Ireland, Great Britain and Catalonia topped their respective groups and played-off in another Group for the championship.

After the Strokeplay, Ireland were the top seeds in both Ladies and Gents. John Deeble (Great Britain) carded the best individual score, a 54, while Marta Cucurull (Catalonia) was best lady on 52. Ireland scored 235 (-35) for their best five out of six Gents scores while the ladies carded 108 for their best two from three.

Official Practice day was Thursday 17th July (and an Opening Ceremony was held on Thursday evening at 6.30pm). Championship days were Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July.

The championship headquarters is the Maldron Hotel, Newlands Cross. Detailed logistical information may be found here.

Efforts will be made to conclude the championships by early afternoon on Sunday, allowing teams the option to fly home that same day.

Lucan has hosted all of the major Irish championships over the years and has produced many fine players and administrators.
