IV European Strokeplay Championship
Sexton and Orti tied for the overnight lead
The IV European Strokeplay Championship is being staged at the La Rochelle Sud course in France on 19th/20th September. Scores here
All competitors have now completed 36 holes and two players are tied for the overnight lead. David Sexton (Ireland) completed two bogey free afternoon rounds of 47 and 46 to tie Berenguer Orti (Catalonia) at the top of the leaderboard with a round to go. Orti scored splendid rounds of 46 and 47 in the morning wave for a matching fifteen under par tally. The pair lead by a single stroke from John Ross Crangle (Ireland), who signed for successive rounds of 47. France’s Xavier Garcia and Alexandre Decorde are next best on -13.
Vanesa Renoult (France) was in outstanding form in the ladies championship. Rounds of 47 and 49 see Vanessa on 12 under par and currently holding a nine shot advantage over Kim Kuijsters (Netherlands). The final round will be played on Sunday.

We are on the eve of the 2026 European Strokeplay Championships!
All our teams are fully mobilised to provide you with the best possible weekend, both on and off the course. As the competition approaches, here is a quick overview of the main information and organisational details.
Course practice rounds
The course is open and free of charge throughout the week for practice rounds.
To help us organise your visit as smoothly as possible, please remember to book your practice tee time directly with the golf club reception:
Tournament fees
You can pay your tournament fees at any time during the week.
Our reception team will be happy to welcome you and assist you with the process.
When paying your tournament fees, you will receive a ticket for your Saturday lunch.
Our chef has prepared a special menu for the occasion:
Chicken skewer marinated with mild curry / sweet potato and turmeric rice
Mango tiramisu
Friday – Opening Ceremony
The course will close at 6:45 PM on Friday.
Our course maintenance teams will then be fully mobilised to prepare the best possible playing conditions for Saturday’s busy competition day.
We will then welcome you at 7:00 PM on the golf club terrace for the Opening Ceremony, followed by a drinks reception.
This will also be an opportunity to go over the latest information regarding the competition format and playing conditions.
Saturday – Competition Day
Saturday will be a particularly busy day, with two competition rounds for each player.
Morning players – tee time fully booked
- 1st round: 8:00 AM
- 2nd round: 11:15 AM
- Mandatory briefing: 7:40 AM on the putting green
Afternoon players
- 1st round: 2:30 PM
- 2nd round: 5:40 PM
- Mandatory briefing: 2:10 PM
Lunch service
In order to ensure a smooth service, two lunch times have been scheduled:
- Afternoon players: lunch at 12:15 PM
- Morning players: lunch at 2:15 / 2:30 PM
Please respect these timings so that the service can run as smoothly as possible.
Sunday tee times
At the end of Saturday’s competition, the overall leaderboard will determine the Sunday tee times.
- The top 72 players in the overall standings will play on Sunday at 12:00 noon
- All players outside the top 72 will play at 9:00 AM.
The final tee times will be communicated at the end of Saturday’s competition.
The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for approximately 3:00 / 3:30 PM.
