Important announcement from APPA
APPA Announcement
SECOND AUSTRALIAN TRIPLE CROWN
There have been some changes to the arrangements for the Australian Triple Crown competition. The first change is regarding the trophy that is being offered to anyone who may win the competition. Attached is an APPA announcement about this. The trophy will not be the same one as was offered when the competition was first played in 2007.
The second change is to the section headed "Awards" in the entry form for the competition. This section has been changed to make it clear that the major trophy will be awarded only to any player who wins all three of the separate events that make up the competition. If no one does, the trophy will not be awarded. This will maintain the concept of the first Australian Triple Crown played in 2007. The amended wording of that section of the entry form is as follows:
AWARDS
The perpetual Triple Crown Champions trophy will be awarded to any player, man or woman, who wins all three of the individual events making up the championship. (In this context, to win such an individual stroke event, a player must have the lowest gross score of all players, male of female, in that event. The player must also have won the matchplay event.
The man and woman who has the lowest gross score in their gender category for each individual event making up the championship will win the perpetual trophy for that event category. Runners-up and third place getters will also receive awards.
Awards will also be made for the Winners, Runners-up and 3rd place getters of each Division, based on gross scores.
Championship, other perpetual and individual place trophies will be awarded at the gala presentation dinner. The same player may win both Overall and Divisional Championships. Awards for Holes in One and nearest the pins will be made and presented at the venue at the end of play of each event.
