Enric Sanz - Uncrowned prince of Andorra
Enric Sanz is the sixth most successful player in international open history.
Nowhere is he more influential than in the principality of Andorra.
Three times in the last four years, Sanz has returned south from the El Torrent course in Andorra as the Andorra Open champion. Winner in 2012 and 2013, Sanz didn't travel to the 2014 renewal. However, Enric emerged as the 2015 victor in a September 13th play-off with Ricard Morat (Andorra).
That was Enric Sanz's second play-off win at the Andorra Open. In 2013, Sanz survived a six hole marathon with Roger Albinana to clinch his second win.
Enric Sanz also secured a podium finish at the 2011 and inaugural Andorra Open, when he finished third behind compatriot Dani Gimenez.
Marc Garcia was the 2010 Catalan Open champion but he was chased all the way by a bearded Enric Sanz.
Sanz may not have participated in the 2014 Andorra Open but he was in Andorra for the VII European Team championship. He produced the low score (97) in the Strokeplay qualifying and then accumulated five Matchplay points out of six to help Catalonia retain the European title. Enric was also a member of the Catalonia team that won the 2010 European Team championship at Lloret Papalus.
Enric Sanz is a cumulative 38 under par for the 12 open tournament and the 2 international championship rounds he has played in Andorra.
Enric Sanz is a proven performer at the top level. He was Catalonia Strokeplay Champion in 2010 and 2014 and won the Catalonia Matchplay Championship in 2013.
Andorra apart, Enric is in a rich vein of 2015 form. He teamed up with Jaume Vidal to win the second round of the Catalan Pairs Ranking. That was at in Platja d’Aro in October. And Sanz and Vidal were confirmed in November (after the final round at la Figuerola) as the overall winners of the Catalan Pairs Ranking for 2015.
Enric also finished fourth at the 2015 Catalan Matchplay championship in October.
