English version
1. Do you and Marta play regularly as Partners?
In our day-to-day we don’t usually play together, but over the years we’ve played many times, whether in our club’s competitions or in official events.
2. How do your respective games complement each other?
I think we both have a high level and, above all, we make few bogeys. This allows us to be more aggressive, because you know the other is always there to fix things if needed.
3. 45 (in the first round Greensomes) was a brilliant foundation for your win? What were the highlights of that 45?
Yes, starting with a good round gives you peace of mind to play the following ones without having to desperately fight to come back. I couldn’t name a specific moment, because it wasn’t that we had a special streak, but rather thatwe kept leaving ourselves many birdie opportunities throughout the round, and that day they were dropping.
4. Five strokes ahead going into the final round, was there ever a possibility that you would not win?
Ailish and David played well and didn’t make it easy for us, but being a fourball format we knew that a low score was possible. And considering we had a five- shot lead, that meant they needed to shoot a very good round to have a chance. This scenario allowed us to play calmly, without nerves, and it worked out.
5. Were there any crises in the final round?
No crisis, but at the beginning it took me a bit to get into the rhythm. Marta, however, played very solidly and in the end we put together a very good round.
6. Do you vary your tactics in the different formats, Greensomes, Foursomes and Fourballs?
It’s a competition where you know that to win you must shoot very low score because the level is very high. Therefore, regardless of the format, you have to play aggressively and look for birdies. In other competitions, depending on the situation, we might adapt and be a bit more conservative if the circumstances allow it.
7. Your impression of David Sexton and Ailish Sexton as players?
They are players with great skill, and their victories show it. It’s also worth noting that they were great competitors to play with, which made the final round very enjoyable. Overall, the impression of Irish pitch, which is very different from ours, is that
they have a very high level of play and, above all, a perfect ball strike.
8. Is Sant Cebria a course you like?
It’s a course that is always well prepared to host important tournaments. By EPPA standards it’s a course that offers a lot of play because there are usually many birdie opportunities, which allows low scoring and makes it enjoyable for everyone.
9. You won overall with Joel Girbau in 2021. You and Marta finished 8th in 2025, just six out of the play-off. Do you think it would be possible for a Mixed Pair to win overall some day?
Yes, it’s possible. In the end we missed some putts in the foursome that kept us from having a chance, but I do think it’s possible. It’s not easy because there are fewer mixed pairs, but I’m sure a mixed pair will win one day.
10. You recently won the ACPP Mixed Pairs Cup 2025. How do you rate the victory?
We value it very positively. The Pairs helped us warm up and practise the formats used in both the Doubles and the Mixed events, and having practised and put ourselves in those situations for several weeks allowed us to arrive very comfortable.
This, together with the fact that it’s a course (Bonarea) close to home and one we’ve played many times, meant that we were able to put together three very good rounds, error-free and very solid. All of this allowed us to face the final round, the foursome, with calmness and really enjoy the experience.
