Manuel Amor - 5 Nations champions.....again! (English, Spanish and Catalan)

Manuel Amor is a hugely successful Pitch and Putt performer, domestically and internationally. His latest triumph was with the Catalan four-in-a-row team in the Five Nations tournaent. Here's Manuel's perspective on that weekend.

What does it mean to you to be part of the Catalan team that has won the Five Nations International four years in a row, becoming the first team ever to achieve this?
It is always a great honour to represent the Catalan team, as it is very difficult to earn a place because of the exceptionally high standard of players in Catalonia.

How much preparation did you do as a team before the tournament?
As a team, we did not train together before the competition. We only had a practice session the day before on the host course itself.

Catalonia also won at the Ariège-Pyrénées course in 2016 and 2021. Do you like this course?
It is a very enjoyable and demanding course, and it seems to suit the Catalan team well.

Catalonia won every session: Stroke Play, Greensomes, Fourball, Foursomes and Singles. That must be immensely satisfying, isn't it?
Yes, we played at a very high level throughout all the rounds!

The Five Nations is a very demanding competition, with five rounds played over a very short period. How do you prepare to meet such a challenge?
We did not do any special preparation for the competition, although playing five rounds in two days is very demanding, especially from a physical point of view.

The tournament is likely to be held in Galicia next year. How do you rate Catalonia's chances of winning a fifth consecutive title?
I think Catalonia always starts as one of the favourites. However, next year will be difficult because Galicia will have a strong team and they will be playing on home soil.

¿Qué representa para ti formar parte del equipo catalán que ha conseguido cuatro victorias consecutivas en el Cinco Naciones International, siendo el primer equipo en lograrlo?

Siempre es un orgullo representar a la selección, ya que es muy difícil entrar en ella por el alto nivel que hay en Catalunya. 

¿Cuánta preparación hicisteis como equipo antes del torneo?

Como equipo no entrenamos antes de la competición,  solo lo hicimos el día se antes en el mismo campo. 

Cataluña también ganó en el campo de Ariège-Pyrénées en 2016 y 2021. ¿Te gusta este campo?

Es un campo muy divertido y exigente y parece que a Catalunya se le da bien...

Cataluña ganó todas las sesiones: Stroke Play, Greensomes, Fourball, Foursomes e Individuales. Debe de ser inmensamente satisfactorio, ¿verdad?

Si, jugamos a muy buen nivel durante todas las rondas!

El Five Nations es una competición de gran exigencia, con cinco rondas disputadas en un período muy concentrado. ¿Cómo os preparáis para afrontar un reto de estas características?

Para la competición no nos preparamos especialmente, aunque jugar 5 rondas en 2 días resulta complicado, sobretodo físicamente. 

Es probable que el torneo se dispute en Galicia el próximo año. ¿Cómo ves las posibilidades de que Cataluña consiga una quinta victoria consecutiva?

Creo que Catalunya siempre parte cómo favorita, aunque el año que viene será difícil ya que Galicia tendrá buen equipo y jugarán en casa.

Sempre és un orgull representar la selecció, ja que és molt difícil entrar-hi pel gran nivell que hi ha a Catalunya.

Quanta preparació veu fer com a equip abans del torneig?

Com a equip no vam entrenar abans de la competició; només ho vam fer el dia abans al mateix camp.

Catalunya també va guanyar al camp d’Ariège-Pyrénées els anys 2016 i 2021. T’agrada aquest camp?

És un camp molt divertit i exigent, i sembla que a Catalunya se li dona bé...
